Thumbnail Date Description
May 21, 2000 Here's how I drilled my hole for the optional rudder. I used a steel ruler clamped to the boat as a visual guide. View the rudder hole tip.
May 21, 2000 Trial fitting the rudder in it's hole. I'm waiting until after I varnish the deck to install the cables. Pictures of that will be later in the gallery.
June 29, 2000 The deck is varnished and we threw one coat of primer on the hull. We will tape it off before the second coat of primer. Check out my varnish page to see how I got a great varnish job.
June 29, 2000 Here I am using a buffing machine to compound the deck. We used 2 grades of compound after sanding with 400, 800, 1000, and 1200 grit sandpaper. I have one coat of primer on the hull.
June 29, 2000 Here I am rubbing it with a soft cloth to a high gloss shine!
June 29, 2000 Here I am sanding, hence the grumpy look on my face.
June 29, 2000 Admiring our work.
June 29, 2000 Shiny!
June 29, 2000 Here's a new picture I just scanned in. You can really see how the finish looks here.
June 29, 2000 My Grandpa and I just buffing it up a bit.
July 1, 2000 The first coat of Interlux Interthane Plus, a really good 2 part polyurethane.
