Thumbnail Date Description
April, 17 2000 Holes for hatches cut, coaming in place, and one coat of epoxy on the deck.
April, 17 2000 Here is the cockpit coaming. More sanding still needed on the inner edge, then I can coat it with epoxy.
April, 17 2000 Here I am routing the cockpit coaming. The router gets the excess off, the rest must be sanded.
April, 17 2000 I'm using a sanding bit in my electric drill to sand the inside of the cockpit smooth.
May 5, 2000 Here is my kayak leaning against a tree in the back yard. I had it up there so I could do the endpour.
May 14, 2000 Got my compass. I bought a flush mount, so a hole in the deck is needed. I made the ring out of 3/4" mahogany.
May 14, 2000 I used a drum sander drill bit to sand the arc into the mount. A belt sander would have been better, but unfortunately I don't have one.
May 16, 2000 *Photo missing: I managed to fit 4 C clamps in that hole to hold it down tight. Here it is all glued down and I just coated it with epoxy.
May 16, 2000 Sanded the bottom of the rudder deck block with the drum sander, and glued it on the deck.
May 16, 2000 My deck wasn't touching the bulkhead, so I made a nice little fillet there to seal it up and strengthen it.
