Here is a handy trick my grandfather came up with:

When you epoxy the sheer clamps to the side panels, you will notice that the plans require the sheer clamps to overhang the side panel by 1/4 inch. Doing this with a ruler is hard, because the sheer clamp is curved slightly across the length of the boat. If you take a piece of wood, and cut out a notch 1/4 inch deep, you can hold it against the sheer clamp and side panel when you epoxy, to keep the overhang accurate. *note: you can clamp the both sides at the same time, just put them back to back and be careful not to epoxy the two sides together!*
