When you build a kayak, you need sawhorses. Most people use ordinary, flat saw horses. A really useful thing to add to your plain old sawhorse, is this little curved piece. I built my first kayak in school and we used these. Here are some pictures of it:

These are great because they cradle the boat. You can hold the boat in about any angle, which is great when sanding. They are simple to make. Sometimes people don't pad them with much, but padding is important. I have seen ones with carpet padding, anything will do, but something that the epoxy wont stick to is best. Hard epoxy will scratch nice varnish jobs(learned that one the hard way)
