Here's a little trick I thought up. When you do stitch and glue construction of a kayak, there are wires to cut off. Most people I've talked to always consider this part a real pain in the neck. I found a good way to do it though, and I had great success with it. I used a Dremel tool to carefully grind off each wire. First I cut them all, nice and close. Each wire then leaves a little piece, a razor sharp point no less, that has to be sanded off. Well after 3 sheets of ripped sandpaper, I remembered that I had a Dremel tool. I took an appropriate bit(I had a nice little one made of stone which worked great) and ground each smooth. If you do this, be careful! It is easy to grind too much and leave a divot. Not too many people have Dremels. If you don't have one, they are very useful to have. You can use it for lots of things. If you're a do-it-yourself kind of person, a Dremel is a good tool to keep in your toolbox. |
